413. Dennou Coil: A Coil of Children (and Awesomeness)

This anime kicked ASS. It was brilliant, amazing, wonderfully written, so sweet, and it has the bizarre power of taking you both 20 years into the future and 15 years back into the past... Superb series. Superb. :D

Synopsis: 11-year-old Okonogi Yuko has just moved into Daikoku City due to her father's job transfer. The year is 2026, and the real world is now blended with the digital world; children and adults now wear the so-called "Cyberglasses", which allow them to see digital things such as screens, pages, and even creatures (observe the dog in the picture: it is Yuko's cyber-pet dog, Densuke). Most kids are expert hackers even by the age of 10, and all of their digital actions can be seen as graphics or real events in front of their own eyes since the digital world is, for them, as real as the real one. Their only enemy is the antivirus program installed by the city council, Satchii, a big red robot-like blob which is designed to look and sound friendly but will attack any digital item that is out of the mainstream. As a result, the kids end up running from it quite a lot. When Yuko and her sister Kyoko have a run-in with a mysterious black cybercreature (enigmatically called "Illegal"), Yuko's adventure in the cyberworld will begin, and change her life and that of those around her in many ways.

Now there's a big mystery behind everything you see in this anime, and even if I try to explain I will be baffled in my own words so I have to say only ONE thing to you all: WATCH IT. IT FREAKIN' ROCKS. The music rocks (if you liked the Yami No Matsuei OST, well, it's the same composer = EPIC WIN), the animation rocks (Madhouse :D), the script is something beyond this world, and the characters are also one of a kind... Since they're like 11-12, they're still children. The things that they do, even though they're serious and they affect many things on multiple levels, are still like a game to them, in the way that all children like to play when they're around that age, wanting to solve mysteries and stuff. They reminded me a lot about myself, even though (as always with anime characters) they carried a lot of baggage and they often thought in rather mature ways. But they felt real. They felt like children. And that's awesome, because for once these children were children. not some kids-filled-with-super-awesome-pwning-powers-that-know-way-too-much. Because face it, 90% of anime series have characters of that sort. And while they're fun to watch, they lose the realistic feel one might expect from characters sometimes.
So, yeah. Great series. WATCH WATCH WATCH. :D

Oh, also please watch THIS.
Cellphone rant for the masses... This dude rocks. *g*

*iZ dEd*

I've tried to write this more than three times, and I always ended up not updating. Mostly because I'm so bored out of me little mind today.
Meh.

Remember that greek history test of doom? Well, two other girls and I decided to skip it because we were so effin' scared of getting a bad grade. (Basically I wasn't that nervous about it, I knew I was going to flunk and frankly I don't care, but then Maria K. persuaded me because she was so nervous herself, and she kept telling me how it would be better to just run instead of sitting through it, etc etc...) So yeah, we ran.
And the stupidest part of all: we got caught.

On another note, I forgot to mention that Para 5 was awesome on Monday. Η Ντάλια φίλησε τον Αλέξη!!! OMG!
[ It just had to happen, we've been waiting for that since... forever? I think. ]

Like me new layout? It's Jack/Kate!! w00t!!! ^_^

Also, I've made four Nekkid Quidditch Match quote icons -->   (rest here).

Anyway that's that. Goodnight y'all, love you to bits!!
ETA: If I've understood correctly, my muzzer is threatening to ...do something to me, I don't know what, because the "internet bill is too high".
But mom we have ADSL that supposedly doesn't charge the phone!
It's not the internet company that does this, muzzer says, it's the greek phone company that charges anything it wants!
Well what am I supposed to do about it then???
And then there's the other thing. "These chat things you do, it's pointless and it takes up your time" ---> referring to my MSN conversations with none other than my classmates and friends. I don't talk to that many people and that much... I mean there's only like 3 or 4 people with whom I talk every day, and still... whatever. She is so clueless about computers and all the things I'm interested in, that even if I do try to explain to her about LJ, fandoms, fanfics, icons, Azureus, anime, manga, downloads, Google... it's going to be an overload, she will determine that I am completely mental and care not about school (which is a LIE and you all know it), and the result will be the same. [When she said "these chat things" she hesitated as if she didn't know what to say, like "these ...chat.. things" :P] PROOF.
Why do I even bother? It's like talking to a wall.

Note to self: Add to my Foamy's Rant list the people who brag about other people's advantages or talents. They particularly piss me off. >:[
I will explain to you what I mean about this, but not now because it's like 3AM and I have to go to bed or my head will be chopped off. :P

...squirrelly wrath \m/...

So I did go to school (unfortunately).
Went there with my mom, who wanted to check whether my sister made it into the school or not, because she took an entrance exam for the scholarships in my school. She didn't make it. I was so anxious and then got so sad, as if it was me we were talking about. I really, really wanted her to pass.
But that's life, and we're moving on.
Mom said she'll send my sister to another good private school, and my sister will be trying for the scholarships there on Wednesday. I hope she'll make it this time... she's not exactly the most hardworking person around the block, even though her teachers claim that she could pull off much more things if she actually cared to. Well she doesn't care about school, and that's her only problem at this point in life. If she were older I would have said well she's tried and it's just not working for her, I wouldn't pressure her to have an academic future if she doesn't want one--but she's still in grade school and will move to junior high this September. Bit early to be saying that school isn't what she wants in her life... :P

Anyway. Had Psychology, Theory of Knowledge, and Greek.
Boring but more bearable since I missed the first 4 periods of class. ^__^ Lucky me.
But I can't miss any more classes or be late anymore for the following month that is the remaining of the school year, because I've used up all my Late Passes (we're allowed three Late Passes if we're late for class, and that's the only way the teachers will let you in after the bell has rung - I have no idea what happens to you if you've used them all and can't get another one; probably you're not allowed to get in class and you get an absence. Absences are not a good thing. *shakes head*). So yeah, no more latecomings for me.

I'm taking that infamous Greek History test tomorrow, and of course I haven't studied at all.
I'll flip through my book tomorrow or something, right now I want to wash my hair and go to bed.

I have a special treat for you people:
( FOAMYYYYYYY!!! )
Click up there for a sample rant - taken from an audio CD that was sent to my friend Alice by Jonathan Ian Mathers himself (the creator of Foamy the Squirrel) when she made a donation to the FOAMY CARD CULT (oh I shall so donate some alms there someday; this screams financial independence~!!). Pretty much the kind of rant I want to write about a whole bunch of people who FREAKIN' PISS ME OFF!!
I only need some reasonable amount of time to put all my thoughts in order and then write the damn thing.

(WARNING: contains a lot of swearing and 'vulgar' language, so if you're offended do not download the mp3)
To view Foamy episodes, go either to the official site, or this fansite that has ALL the episodes ever aired in order (the official site doesn't have all the eps).
-----------

So that's that. Hope you enjoy the Foamy audio goodness. The specific rant I uploaded isn't from one of the episodes, just an un-aired audio track from the audio CD "Rants For The Masses". The title is self-explanatory. :P ^_^

I joined [info]lost_shippage and I got a slash pairing!!! I'll work on some ideas tomorrow at school because I have nothing better to do in my two empty periods after the Greek History test of DOOM, and I might come up with some fluff. Keep in mind I've never written slash in my life (although I love reading slash, and I am a very slashy fangirl myself, if I do say so). Ahhh *le sigh* we'll see. It's an unconventional pairing, mind you, but I got my favourite character and I'm happy!!! ^__^

Anyways, goodnight y'all. :)

I didn't update yesterday, I was too tired. I am tired now too but if I don't update now I won't tell you about yesterday and today, and it's really a shame because some interesting things happened.

I have another couple of memes to do and my thoughts on THE SAYID EPISODE THAT THEY FORGOT TO PUT ON TWO WEEKS AGO AND THEY FINALLY PUT IT ON AND I'M SO HAPPY BECAUSE I GOT TO SEE NAVEEN ANDREWS HOTNESS!!! *very enthusiastic mwahaha*
but I'm too tired to do it and it's almost 4AM. Give me a break, my painfully fandom-y self. Tomorrow I'll update from school, or something.

Toodles, flist. Love you all to bits.

ETA: Here are my thoughts on Lost 1x08 (Sayid episode YAYZ), Saikano 4-5, CSI: NY (I don't know which episode that was)... I think that's all. Meh.

and it's over to you...
School's out, babeh! (At least for now...)
Spring break officially begins tomorrow, YAYness. For two weeks I don't have to wake up at 7 and sleep at 2 from the homework overload.

Today was HECTIC. Last night I didn't get to finish all the deadline stuff I had to do for today, and lucky for the free periods I had scattered during the day, I managed to finish them while I was at school. The Greek Literature book reviews were CONSUMING... I had to review three books: "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck, "The Stranger" by Albert Camus, and "Ward Number 6" by Anton Chekhov. The Chekhov one was the hardest even though it was more like a long short-story than a book, really. But it was so complicated!! >:\
And the Psychology Internal Assessment outline was done in 30 minutes or something... thankfully it didn't have to be fully detailed and whatever, so I kept it simple. I'm going to do an experiment based on memory, testing the way that people remember better: if a piece of text is read to them or if they read it to themselves while they can see it on a piece of paper. I think that it actually plays a part, the way that you absorb information. It will be an interesting thing to look at.
In Chemistry I'm going to do experiments based on tap water and filtered water and the differences and what it is that makes fresh water drinkable, etc. I think it's going to be interesting. My partners like it a lot, and they seem pretty motivated (they're also in Higher Level Chemistry, I'm in Standard Level), so I think that it's going to go well. ^___^

After school I came home and cooked a little (my mom left for Belgrade this morning, so my sister and I were alone today), then waited for my sister to come home and I got anxious because she took longer than usual to come home and I got really worried! But she came eventually and we ate and then I slept a little and then I went to THEATRE WORKSHOP blargh. And I took me sis with me.

It was productive, to say the least. I think that after that fiasco last week everyone seems more motivated (and I say seems because it doesn't necessarily mean that we actually are motivated :P) and we do a lot of work every time. We're going to go tomorrow too; we'll film a couple of sequences and then we'll go to some huge park or something uptown and film some more in NATURE, man!! haha~! Well it's going to be good, I really like that place.
Don Quixote still sucks by the way. But we're getting pretty costumes o_O. We've never gotten pretty costumes EVER in Poupoulo, it's like a curse that runs in the place... most costumes stink and we are the ones who have to put up with the stinky costumes! Once they attempted to dress me into a PIRATE with an awful shirt that was fuschia and four times my size and a small black hat that resembled Napoleon's. It was FUGLY. But no, now I get a cute little black corset and from what I hear I'll also be getting a black fluffy skirt! I like fluffy! ^__~
My sister enjoyed it too. She met everyone on the team and they liked her a lot. Of course they would, she's so cuuuuuuuuute. :D

After theatre workshop I took my sister and went downtown to meet some of my classmates who had gone out, to say goodbye to them and everything for the holidays (one girl is from Denmark, and she's leaving tomorrow to go home for a couple of weeks). So yeah. Had a lot of fun there, although we didn't stay for long because my sister got sleepy, but it was ok. I realized that I really really like these guys, they're so nice and warm and friendly and open and you can talk about so many things! :)

Anyway, I'm really tired now so I MIGHT update tomorrow with more details about today and/or that promised Foamy rant. You will definitely hear that, because I'm boiling each time I think about those people who REALLY PISS ME OFF.

PS: I heard a rumour about Emmerz playing the Pink Power Ranger in the next season. I was tempted to comment on Mugglenet and say "I'm all for it! At last, girlpower!Emmione gets what she deserves!" I didn't though because all the toher people were fans and fans are usually unbearably stupid and obsessed with that smug creature, so I didn't bother. :(

PS2: I wanted to sleep until forever tomorrow morning, to commence the spring break gloriously, but I won't be able to. Sunday is free though... I'll postpone the ceremony until then, haha~!

G'night everybody. :)

Team Jack?! AFFIRMATIVE. :D Team Sayid?! Hmmm, YESH.
LOST: The Sawyer episode (season 1, always). And OMG I have so many things to say on that.
I still don't like that son of a bitch )

Happy Passover to Jewish people. ^__^

Also, be prepared for a long, Foamy's Rant-type entry tomorrow (because I have a lot of work now and I can't waste my precious post-midnight time writing a rant when I should be doing my homework for tomorrow.
[Foamy: a society-bashing squirrell cartoon character that gets in people's faces by ranting about the kinds of people that he hates. And he always seems to have a point!!! Check the official site or this site for episodes etc etc.]

See y'all later, ppl. Have a wonderful night.

PS: I posted three poems and a wallpaper on [info]angelkath. Check it out? Pweeeeeaaaaaase?! ;)*puppy eyes*
